Day: 22
Weather 33.5
Overnight: Waitangi Holiday Park
Activities: Russell, Pompellier House and tannery, Museum, Christ Church, Hone Hika Flagstaff
A very hot night. I went on a walk this morning and found Tonya on the grass sleeping. Understandable after a hot night. It only took me 5 minutes to get to the shops. By 8.00 the locals were already setting up the craft market and the town was starting to buzz. On getting back to the van, Tonya and Millie were about to walk in to town. I walked back with them then on arriving in town was rung by Clare who was keen to walk in to town also but did not want to leave Frankie. Third time lucky and I ended up staying at the van. Frankie and I had a game of battleships while we had a breakfast.
Once all the girls had arrived back we made a plan to head for Russell. Tonya went by herself and we followed 15 minutes behind. Once we got the ferry we started at the museum then did a tour of Pompellier House. By this time it was about 28. On our way back to climb up to the flagstaff hill we dropped in to Christ Church. Had a quick walk up, it had a great view then back for an ice cream and swim. While girls swam I went back earlier and got van from RSA. I picked up the girls and we drove straight to the Waitangi Holiday park. A grumpy lady at reception who tried to charge Ton for a powered site in a tent. We set up in a nice spot and made the most of the free wifi, charging of appliances and hot showers. Brilliant. Bed by 10.30.
