4.1: Coromandel to Whangaparoa
Day:
Weather: 23
Overnight: coromandel free parking
Activities:
Road 306 - Start and wild pigs, Waterworks.
Woke to a great day. Still and very sunny. A quiet night at the free parking in Coromandel. Went for a walk to get groceries. Brought some local oranges. Yum. Heard their had been a car crash on the road and the road between Thames and coromandel was closed for 3-5 hours. We decided to do a bit more shopping then drove on to waterworks. There are about 60 different interactive displays and activities. Not all involve water but a number have water as the generating force. There was also a playground, flying fox and swimming hole in the river.
Following Waterworks we drove on to Thames. The road was now open and although it was very windy there was still a lot to see. The highway followed the coast all the way to Thames where it went inland. On reaching Auckland we contacted Vicky and Andrew and met at Point Chevalier for nacho tea.
After a relaxing tea we drove to whangaparoa for the night and stayed at the RSA. A great spot.
