10.1 - Kawakawa to Paihia
Day: 21
Weather 30
Overnight: Paihia RSA
Activities: Hunterwassers toilets, relax and walk around Paihia.
A quiet night with a foggy morning. A couple of other campers theta turned up. I went for a walk down to the shops for my morning coffee and muffin. Spent an hour on cafe wifi updating a few blogs. Made my way back to van. All still quiet. After breaks we did a quick walk down to check out hops, etc. Not much happening. I brought a Hawaiian shirt, Frankie found a skink, train drove down the Main Street. Quite a sedate place really.
We drove on to Paihia without any stops on the way. Another hot day at Paihia and drove straight to the RSA. Parked up on the tarseal car park. Nothing flash but very functional. Once we were sorted we got out the camp chairs etc and set ourselves up. On walking down to get and ice cream, etc, buying a 2 litre pack, the ice cream wafers and making ice cream sandwiches the girls then decided to go for a swim. I ended up walking back to the van to put the remainder of the ice cream back in the freezer.
Once the girls got back it was time to do tea at the RSA. Great value meals - burgers, steak, fish and chips. Auntie Rowena (RSA Ambassador) met us at the door and told us we were her guests tonight. We still had to sign the bit of paper.
A very, very hot night. Uncomfortably hot. I slept in the back with the girls but Frankie ended up sleeping under the table on a sleep mat. Tonya was initially in bed up the top but then moved to sleep outside on the grass. a very eventful night with most being a bit jaded by the morning.
